In short, what I learned from my gallery experience was this: I love what I do. I love photographing families, children, and people in love. I'm most successful when my photography either helps people, makes them feel beautiful, or in twenty years can make them time travel.

Kelly and Jeff's wedding is in September, and we were lucky enough to nab one of the nicest days of the Spring for their engagement shoot. We went to Boston's busy waterfront and the Fort Point neighborhood near The Children's Museum. We're so hip.

We love all our couples, we do.
Liz/Todd and Ben/I were apparently separated at birth and it's just nice to be reunited, that's all.
One thing you should know about the next 30 photographs: the cake picture is our favorite because Todd is a surgeon and looks straight-up terrified to cut the cake. We don't know the skate boarders in the photographs, but if you do will you have them contact us?
Liz and Todd's wedding was filled with love, family, friendship, great music, endless bliss, and a room (or two) full of fabulous people.
Details:
Mass General Hospital did her flowers and they were as gorgeous as any other.
Their reception was at St. Cecelia's and Father John will, if everything goes as planned, leave the Church and marry me.
Liz's dress was gorgeous, but I don't know who designed it. If you want to know I can surely ask her.
Their reception was at The Harvard Club Downtown and it was exceptional.

Here is just about the nicest email we've ever received. It's from Shannon and Ed Vossler, one of our favorite couples ever. We had such a good time at their wedding, and wanted to post their generous, lovely email.

I don't have to say much about the end product -- their photos speak for themselves. Anyone with any sense of a photographic eye can tell the precision and attention to detail that goes into their composition.

Greetings from Houston, en route to Boston. We're just returning from the mind blowing week that Jose Villa, Jesh De Rox, and The Image Is Found just put together. Never (and I mean never) have we been so inspired and felt so lucky. Ben just kissed me. No, no he didn't (but I bet he wishes he did).

Mike contacted me a couple of months ago. He told me that a family friend was photographing their wedding, but he and Angela wanted some engagement shots done by Hitched which he found on the trusty internet. Both high school teachers in Orlando, they were up in Boston last week visiting Mike's family and their only request was that they wanted pictures 'in Boston'. I took it from there. We had a BLAST and, once again, Beacon Hill didn't know what hit 'em.

Shannah and Joe and plenty of snow

We met Shannah and Joe last summer, but they wanted to wait until there was snow on the ground to have their engagement session. And...well...there's plenty of snow on the ground 'round here.
As soon as we showed up to The (aptly named) Old Stone Church in West Boylston, we knew exactly why they wanted to wait. Both Shannah and Joe were such great sports despite the frigid air and the slip on the ice ;). They're getting getting hitched in July, we can't wait!

Ahhhhh, just in from another tough week...on the Cook Islands!!!
The Cook Islands (when not the host of Survivor 13, of course) is a luscious corner of the globe between Tahiti and New Zealand (roughly). It's the most idyllic place I could have dreamed up.
I photographed Paige and Marlo's wedding who are good friends of mine. They were married at sunset, in the South Pacific, surrounded by 30 of their their loving, gorgeous, fun, generous, and smart friends and family. We had a fabulous week, filled with all the things dreams are made of.
I'm going to show Paige and Marlo their photographs before I post them. Until then, let these few wet your Aitutaki whistle.

Hooty hoo!!! Hitched did it again! The good folks over at Newport Life Magazine published one of our FAVORITE weddings of 2008 (ok, one of our favorite weddings ever). Laura and Chris Milligan at Astor's Beechwood in Newport. Their day was so gorgeous, they're so gorgeous. I'm kindof choked up just thinking about them. Maybe they'll renew their vows every year or so.

Well, well, well if it's not the coolest, most fun couple ever! Courtney and Chris have one of those weddings that we're sortof bummed we're not invited to! It's at the Langham Hotel in Boston in June and every little detail sounds perfect and fun.
Courtney also found her dress at The Running of The Brides which always sounds like such a trip. Of course she has a fabulous story to go with it. She's just one of those beautiful, fun, funny, smart girls everyone likes. Chris is the male version!!

Jessica and Adam, when not busy being full-time muffins, are high school sweethearts (awwwww) and getting married on August 2nd, 2009. ;)

Oh, ya know...just another little backyard wedding.
whhhhhhaaaatttt!?!?!?!?

Kate and Jake had a show stopping, oh-my-goodness, this is too good, everything-is-perfect day!!

Kate and Jake had their wedding in their backyard which sounds simple enough, but when you put Jessica and Social Butterfly at the helm, you are in for a treat beyond compare.
A circus-top tent, a martini ice luge, a great band, top notch food, and a bride and groom who TOTALLY trusted their photographers!?!?! HEAVEN!!!
I think the true highlight of Kate's perfect day was the surprise attendance from her beloved Grandpa who has had a string of bad luck lately and was not expected to be there. Imagine Kate's surprise when she noticed him in the pew as she and Jake were pronounced married! (TEAR JERKER!!!)
How did the night end, you ask? The pictures speak for themselves!!

We had three hours to play with between their ceremony and their reception so we had a BLAST in downtown Boston and at The Middlesex Fells. What a great day! There was a little...ahhh..glitch with the limo driver so Super Ben was to the rescue as the Driver d'jour. What a babe.

Maureen and John!

Maureen and John had their dream wedding yesterday! And I think they actually had MY dream wedding yesterday! Yowza...so unique, so different, so beautiful. Here are the highlights:
where: Essex Retreat and Conference Center. Picture a woodsy camp atmosphere with a pond, place for people to stay, and gorgeous metal sculptures throughot the grounds. Super cool.
The flowers and centerpieces were STUNNING!!! Pepperberry's Flowers were responsible for that.
Maureen and John are musicians so she had a full-on mini orchestra for their ceremony and then other cool music for the cocktail hour. The music was so beautiful I was in tears. Don't tell anyone.
AND..... how'd they end it?? At a huge fire pit. whhhhhhat!?!?!?

So, ya...a perfect, perfect day. Couldn't wish it on a kinder, cooler couple. Thank you so much, Mo and John.

Christina and Eric!

We have been looking forward to photographing Christina and Eric's wedding since the moment we met them in November and photographed their engagement shoot in April. They are just the coolest, most easy going, sweet couple you'd ever want to meet. Their wedding was SO nice...the love was so obvious, their friends were really nice, fabulous families....can't ask for more.
Just a little note to all the brides-to-be reading this: Christina was SUPER organized before the wedding: typed itineraries, schedules in place...since May, hair and makeup at 10:30am with the ceremony a full 8 hours later...you get the picture. She did all this, but when her day arrived...she let it go. Everyone knew what was expected of them, everyone knew where to go, everything was in place. Christina was very calm, very happy, very excited all day. No rushing, no short tempers, just happiness...on the happiest day of her life. Makes sense.

OK, Christina and Eric, have a FABULOUS time in Disney and the Caribbean. Bring Ben back one of those big, swirly lollipops. He's into that.

So, if you've been following our blog for a while now (and I can't imagine why you wouldn't be), you know that Hitched Studios seems to call forth really nice weather even if the most recent information forecasts differently.
OK, so Erica and Sean's wedding was going to be the break in our lucky streak. Hurricane Hannah was hitting on their wedding day and it seemed (shockingly, really) that it was out of Hitched Studios' control. Which it was, and always is, and it's totally just coincidence, BUT....
it down poured, like biblical rains, when she ran down the aisle under a row of male friends holding umbrellas. Which made for a hysterically laughing bride and groom and great photos.
then
It stopped raining during the ceremony...and for the rest of the evening. Until the wedding was scheduled to end anyway.
Erica and Sean had their dream wedding at Cape Wind Motel in Falmouth...on a hill, around a pool, overlooking a grassy marsh that spilled out into the Atlantic. Their friends were great, the music was super fun, and the party rocked.

Bo Wetzel and Danielle Niska are en route to the Amalfi coast as I write this. I will try to not let the envy seep through my words as I tell you about their gorgeous and elegant wedding.
Veronique Ballroom was host to their wedding. Great service, great venue, delicious food. It's no wonder that it's one of the Boston area's top venues.
Danielle and Bo's wedding was perfect; Classy, fun, filled with friends and family who adore them both. We were so honored to be there for two kind and beautiful people.
D and B, last chance: you're POSITIVE you don't need a personal photographer in Italy? Just one? We can leave Ben at home. He won't mind. ;)

Marylynne Kane and Craig Strachan are madly,deeply in love.

So they got married.

In Vermont

At Three Stallion Inn. (which ROCKS, by the way.) It's the perfect location: ML and Craig rented out the entire inn, the food was really delicious, the service was excellent, there were so many places to hang out throughout the inn: front porch, back deck, sprawling lawn, cool Vermont bar with lots of Vermont beers on tap, and outside on the back deck dancing the night away!(**The website on this place does not do it justice. Look at our pictures :), call Amy at Three Stallion, and take an afternoon to see it yourself if you're interested).

ML and Craig fatefully found Ben and I over a year ago, and we all knew immediately that it was a perfect fit. They had a gorgeous celebration and afterwards Ben and I sat in the car, exhausted and in love with the new couple, and he tried again to convince me that this is our JOB!!!!
Let me wrap it up with this: ML and Craig are truly in love with one another, they were surrounded by their loving families and fabulous friends, they chose the ideal location, and they invited Ben and I to not be vendors at their wedding, but to be a part of their love and their celebration. They are our kind of people, they are our new friends, and we're both honored and blessed to have been there to be with the happy and gorgeous couple.
Enjoy Vermont, guys. We love you, you know that. We'll see you again soon.

Toni and Tyson!

Big T and Little T got all kinds of hitched yesterday. Their gorgeous reception was held at the picture perfect Harding Allen Estate in Barre, MA.
Toni was such a gorgeous bride, her dress was one of the most beautiful art pieces I have ever seen, and she was all aglow with love for her gorgeous (and kind and romantic and thoughtful) groom, Tyson.
Toni and Tyson, for all that it's worth, are what Ben and I call 'picture people'; They completely appreciate good photography, they have that really good 'camera stare', they know when to notice us and when to ignore. Love it.
Toni and Tyson, be good to Peru, Argentina, and Chile for me. Have fun. Thanks a ton.

Sara Gunderson has been one of my best friends for going on 22 years now. (ouch. we met utero, I guess). We have shared more phone calls, secrets, bottles of wine and laugh-till-you-cry moments than I could have ever hoped for when her Dad first dropped her off at my house when we were 11. When Ryan walked into her life a few years ago I was skeptical, as all friends are, but he quickly worked his way into my heart. Now I love his whole damn family (and hers, but that goes without saying).
Hitched Studios did not photograph Sara's wedding, but...well...umm...I can't help myself. I feel awful that I was 'that' guest.

Tori Samuel is a friend of mine whom I was lucky enough to meet when I was working as Winston's Flowers Special Event photographer. She's just one of those people everyone always wants to be around: kind, fun, gorgeous, and talented. Ian McGlaughlin, also all of those things, can consider himself a blessed guy this morning.
Tori and Ian were married with their favorite 28 people surrounding them. Their ceremony was really nice; very personal and heartfelt...I loved it.
We walked through downtown Nantucket to their reception.

Gina and Jeff were married today between a rainbow and a thunderstorm, under bright blue skies. Don't those words sound like really bad lyrics to an even worse folk song? Corny and true, Gina and Jeff had a perfect day today.
Their ceremony was incredibly personal and touching, their families were kind and appreciative, Gina's friends were sweet and beautiful....and Jeff's friends can do the worm and handstands!

Jen and Dan could not have dreamed of better weather for their wedding at The Seacoast Science Center in Rye, NH.
Their whole day was just one of those really great days: the wedding was gorgeous, both Jen and Dan were absolutely glowing, their families and friends are fabulous, fun, and loving people. Not to mention Jen brought comfortable shoes so she could climb out onto the rocks for good pictures! We had a blast and we're so grateful we were able to be there for our new friends. THANK YOU!!!!

Liz and Derek get Hitched!

Liz and Derek were married during the undisputed romance of a thunder and lightening storm. I'll have to check my sorcery hand book, but that has to be triple good luck!
Liz, Derek and all their friends were stars; we had such a blast! The weather cleared up just in time for the sky to turn pink while Ben and I worked with them in a portrait session. (speaking of triple good luck!!).
The wedding was so fun and so high energy at such a perfect venue, I really want to get the word out so here are the two big details you'll need.
AMAZINGLY fun and talented band: The Pulse of Boston. If you want your wedding to be a dance party book this band.
Venue: The Ridge Club. Has it all: gorgeous and enormous room; lots of glass. A terrace with a plexi glass top so that guests can still be outside even if it rains, delicious food, and lots of room for a terrace ceremony.

Jessica and Ted were not stolen. They were real people. As in: real people actually look like this and get married. So weird, right? I haven't heard for sure, but I think they're unborn child might be the next Dali Lama. Based solely on genetics.

I could go on and on, but we just shot three weddings in three states this weekend so I'm having trouble finding words. Here's the basic deal:
Jessica Reynolds and Ted Cornell are two of the most kind and gentle souls you'll ever want to meet. Their families are unreal, their friends are fabulous, and their day on Sunday was perfect.

Ahhh....New Jersey in June.

Lil' warm, lil' sticky.

The weather did not effect Christine, the ultra relaxed bride du jour, whatsoever. In fact, I can't remember seeing a bride own her own dance floor quite like Christine did! She and Kevin were married in Chatham, NJ and the reception was in the backyard of Kevin's parent's home. It was such a nice party, the food was great, the DJ was fantastic...and even the bartender was rockin' the dance floor.

Cheeseburgers and mansions. We love our job.

Laura and Chris were married under gorgeous silver skies as the fog hung with a moody pout over the Atlantic behind them. Laura Richards and Chris Milligan, blessed with superly delicious genetics, were looking especially gorgeous on Thursday evening as they married each other. They tied that proverbial knot at The Elks Club. Naaaa, just kiddin. They were married at Mr Milligan's Little Mansion That Could, Astors' Beechwood.
good music, good food, good people, good venue. thanks Laura and Chris. Enjoy St.John...don't worry about the North East corridor of this country. We'll hold it down for ya until your return.

Is it normal to bawl your eyes out every Saturday of the year because you love your clients so much? Sure hope so.
Cried again with Meaghan and Manu. They are so incredible nice, so fun, gorgeous, madly in love, (and generous and grateful and...). We had SUCH a good time last night! Meaghan's family is one of those great Irish Catholic Families that should have been extras on Good Will Hunting. Her brothers are so good looking they look like super heroes and Meaghan and Manu are so likable, it was hard not to get swept up in the excitement. So we did. The weather was perfect, Cohasset Harbor was lookin' pristine, the bride looked like a princess. Tough job. Someone has to do it.

Hitched Studios just returned from yet another life changer of a week. I know, I know, you've heard it before and we're starting to sound like we're crying wolf. How can The Little Wedding Photography Duo That Could really go to THIS many life changing workshops?
well...credit cards.
Anyway, we went to a workshop called YinYang2 hosted by the mind blowing husband and wife team, DQ Studios and the King of Wedding Photojournalism F8 Studio
We are so incredibly honored to have been able to be a part of such a talented group of photographers and learn from such masters in the field. We should also probably congratulate our clients because you guys get an inspired, growing, ultra excited team to photograph yer lovvvve. Good Choice with Hitched, kids. Good, good choice.

Kate, Jake, and Caterpillar

So, some of our clients have earth movers in their backyards, some have a swimming pool. Kate and Jake have both, and we plan to take full advantage of that. Their October wedding will be in their gorgeous backyard in Gardner, MA. To prepare for the event, Kate's wonderful father is clearing a parking lot for them with some extra Caterpillar equipment he apparently has lying around. And the Coolest Dad Toys award goes to....
And as for the pool.... well, let's just say Kate bought two wedding dresses and the pool is heated. More on that in October.

Laura and Ross!

Laura and Ross and 19 of their favorite people gathered at The Ye Old England Inn in Stowe, Vermont on Saturday, June 7th. It was Day One of our current heat wave, but Stowe was much cooler and it provided the backdrop for a perfect afternoon. Ross and Laura were so much fun! They let us take them all over Stowe village to find the perfect backdrops for their photographs. The highlight of the afternoon was when a bull in a herd of Holstein cows not-so-casually walked us out of the field they were grazing in. We dutifully obliged and left the field...Stowe provided us with endless beauty with a lot less opposition!

Naomi and Evan!

Naomi and Evan were married in the gggggorgeous backyard of the home she grew up in in Chestnut Hill. It was the nicest day of the year (oh, and my birthday. Coincidence? Doubt it.) and everything went off without a hitch. Naomi was super relaxed and more focused on dancing and having a blast than anything else which is always so nice to see. This was Hitched Studios first Jewish wedding and we had a blast! We're ready for more!!

Well, Ben and I just keep getting really lucky with how fun, gorgeous, and easygoing our new friends are. Shannon and Ed met us at Marsh Chapel on the campus of B.U. (where Shannon graduated from) and it was another gorgeous afternoon for all of us. they were up for anything (even making out in the middle of the bike path). They're getting married in October and Ben and I can't WAIT for that adventure! Thanks so much, guys. We'll see you soon.

Tough to photograph super good looking people deeply in love, but someone has to! Gina and Jeff were wonderful (oh, and by the way....it stopped raining moments before our shoot began. I'M JUST SAYIN'....)

Life as An Art Form

Greetings from the best week of our lives! We just spent three days with 13 of the best humans on the planet (besides you, of course). Jesh De Rox just taught a three day workshop at BKB Photography and it was life changing. Jesh and Tamara Lackey were our fearless leaders through the week. Christina and Eric were so much fun to photograph! We designed their shoot after they told us what some of their favorite things to do were. Just to name a few: watching lots of DVDs in their cozy and beautiful home, playing board games with friends, and (of course) being dutiful New England sports fans all year long. After we were done photographing at their home, they showed us the gorgeous park down the street that was just coming into it's full Spring glory. A beautiful couple, a gorgeous setting... you guys made it too easy!

Jen and Dan are getting married on August 9th at the Seacoast Science Center in Rye, NH.. They wanted to also have their engagement photographs taken there which was such a great idea. This way we could have them jump walls and climb all over the rocks which probably won't happen while she's in a wedding dress....but who knows! AGAIN, the weather held for us, Jen and Dan were glowing, and the champagne flowed.

Kelly and Marc got married on April 12th under PERFECTLY sunny skies!! Despite the fact that the weatherman predicted raw and rainy conditions, Kelly was determined to have her photos done on Wollaston Beach in Quincy. Lucky for all of us, the weather did a 180-degree turn for the best!
We had such a great time at the beautful and sunny Hoosic Club in Milton, and Kelly and Marc are off to Italy and Greece!

Tania and Brian get married!

Tania and Brian were married on April 5th and celebrated their wedding at the Charles River Museum of Industry in Watertown. www.crmi.org
It was such a cool venue to host a wedding...which is no real surprise because Tania and Brian are just really cool people. She looked so gorgeous in her 1950's style dress, sweet little veil and everything! Tania and her dad took a Watertown Taxi to the church from her house and then she and Brian took it to the reception. Like I said, they're super cool.
